Now through November 20th, the Lobo Food Pantry is requesting community support to Pack the Pantry shelves for National Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week!
The Lobo Food Pantry has a goal to eliminate hunger as a barrier to UNM student success. We want students to focus their best energy on their educational experience, not on finding their next meal. With your gift, UNM students will be able to pick up essentials, including some prepared meals and supplies to help stock the shelves at home.
Too many students live on meager budgets and skip meals because they lack funds. The UNM Basic Needs Project found that both food and housing insecurity prevalence are higher among students than in the broader population of New Mexico. UNM students experiencing food insecurity are 1.6 times more likely to withdraw from school than their peers. In a country where food is plentiful, we can do better.
Since 2014 the Lobo Food Pantry has aimed to serve students in a respectful and convenient way, making the most of our partnership with Roadrunner Foodbank of New Mexico and having a convenient location serving students out of the Student Union Building (SUB).
Operating out of the SUB means increased student reach and demand. Your gifts will help us keep serving the lobo community who need a helping hand. Let's Pack the Pantry shelves!
Please make your gift today.
