Raise the Flag for UNM ROTC

Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) has a rich and storied history at UNM that began when the Naval ROTC was established on campus in 1941 followed by Air Force ROTC in 1949. Since 2003, UNM has produced commissioned officers for the Army, Marine Corps, Navy, Air Force, and Space Force and is one of fifty universities and one of two Hispanic Serving Institutions that share that distinction.

In order to provide our cadets and midshipmen with the resources they deserve and require, we need your support. Today, we're asking you to make your gift to the Raise the Flag for Excellence: The Campaign for UNM ROTC.

Our battle cry is simple. With a goal of $100,000, The ROTC Excellence Fund will impact UNM ROTC's pillars of success:

  • To attract, motivate and prepare selected students with the potential to serve as commissioned officers in the U.S. Army, Marine Corps, Navy, Air Force, and Space Force.
  • To provide a state-of-the-art environment and resources in which to learn the fundamental concepts and principles of military studies.
  • To develop leadership and managerial potential, a basic understanding of associated professional knowledge; a strong sense of personal integrity, honor, and individual responsibility; and an appreciation of the requirement for national security.

The ROTC Excellence Fund will help UNM ROTC provide tuition assistance for those cadets not on scholarship, field trips, battle staff rides, military and athletic competitions, ceremonies, and other special events.

Please make your gift today.

All gifts to the Raise the Flag for UNM ROTC Campaign are important. We ask you to think about your personal UNM ROTC experience, its impact on your life and career, and based upon your ability, give at a commensurate level. Naming opportunities can be in honor of the donor, an individual or classmate, or a combined gift by a class or classmates, All gifts are fully tax-deductible. For answers to any questions, please contact Chris Albrecht at the UNM Foundation, or 513.378.4040.

Making a planned gift is a wonderful way to show your support and appreciation for the ROTC Programs at The University of New Mexico while accomplishing your personal, financial, estate-planning, and philanthropic goals. The education, training, and leadership skills you gained as a cadet or midshipman prepared you to be a commissioned officer in the U.S. Military, and for life. Designating an estate gift to your ROTC Program will have the same lasting impact and help sharpen our nation's future military leaders.

The Office of Planned Giving at the University of New Mexico Foundation assists individuals and their advisors as they develop charitable estate gifts to support UNM. Please contact Elizabeth Harcombe at with questions or for more information on how your planned gift can have an impact on the ROTC Programs at UNM.

Exciting News:  In the summer of 2022, UNM will unveil a new building that houses all three ROTC programs under one roof.  This major investment will be a welcome addition to the main campus in Albuquerque. The future UNM ROTC building will provide state of the art facilities for UNM to recruit, train, and develop Lobos to become leaders of character for our nation.
